§ Mr. OlnerTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement about the grant for Reunite; the National Council for Abducted Children.
§ Mr. Jack[holding answer 25 March 1993]: Reunite has been funded by the Home Office voluntary services unit since November 1989 at an annual rate of around £23,000. This arrangement was due to end on 31 March 1993 as indicated, but I am pleased to say that agreement has now been reached with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on a joint funding scheme to apply beyond that date. We will maintain Reunite's grant at its existing level in 1993–94 and we are prepared to consider the possibility of continued funding, subject to satisfactory discussions but on a tapering basis, for the two following years.
