To ask the Secretary of State for Health by how much payments to dentists have exceeded Government estimates for each year since 1987; how much was paid by Government; and how much by patients.

The detailed information is given in the table. On average over these years, for every £100 of gross expenditure'on the general dental services about £67 is net Government expenditure and about £33 is charge income collected from patients.
