§ Mrs. DunwoodyTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many prosecutions of airlines under the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 have taken place in each year since its entry into force.
§ Mr. JackThe Act creates no criminal offence, and therefore could not give rise to prosecutions. Proceedings against four carriers for the recovery of charges under the Act were initiated in the civil courts in 1990. The cases were settled out of court.
