§ Mr. WigleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the factors he takes into consideration when deciding on(a) his number of schemes and (b) the areas selected for implementing care and repair schemes funded by the Welsh Office; and when he next intends to make an announcement concerning further extensions of such schemes.
§ Mr. Gwilym JonesScheme locations are selected for funding on the basis of demographic and other data, including the advice of Care and Repair Cymru, and in the light of available resources. I expect to be in a position to announce allocations to the care and repair initiative for 1993–94 shortly.
Local authorities can themselves establish arrangements to provide help and assistance to renovation grant applicants on an agency basis.
