HC Deb 18 March 1993 vol 221 cc330-1W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the chairman of the Welsh Development Agency in relation to the reasons for the cancellation of the inward investment mission to Japan from 7 to 14 March.

Mr. David Hunt

None.

Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his current estimate of the cost of arranging and aborting the chairman of the Welsh Development Agency's inward investment mission to Japan from 7 to 14 March; and how many individual meetings with companies had been arranged.

Mr. David Hunt

I understand that the inward investment mission has been postponed and not aborted.

Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give details of each of the meetings arranged between the chairman of the Welsh Development Agency and the Japanese business leaders which were to take place during the chairman's inward investment mission to Japan from 7 to 14 March; if he will make it his policy to write personally to each of those business leaders to give an explanation for their cancellation; and what proposals he has to rearrange such meetings for a later date.

Mr. David Hunt

No. Such meetings are commercially confidential. I understand that the visits are to be rearranged.
