HC Deb 17 March 1993 vol 221 c285W
Mr. Colvin

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 5 March,Official Report, column 342, what are the percentages used to calculate the contribution to public funds by service bands in relation to net earnings; how income is apportioned between performers and individual band funds; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The percentage of net earnings which service bands contribute to public funds from fee-paying engagements normally ranges from 5 to 10 per cent. Individual band funds receive between 5 to 20 per cent, and the musicians 65 to 75 per cent. The balance is due to the director of music and/or conductor.
