To ask the Secretary of State for Health what are maternity and paternity leave allowances for NHS staff; and what are the maternity and paternity leave allowances for NHS staff who adopt children.

Staff who satisfy certain qualifying criteria are entitled to a maximum of 52 weeks maternity leave. Staff may also be eligible for paternity and adoption leave in accordance with arrangements determined locally.
