§ Mr. Sackville[holding answer 12 March 1993]: There were 665,065 deliveries in England during 1990–91, the latest year for which figures are available.
During 1990–91 there were 400,448 delivery episodes recorded on the maternity hospital episode system. An analysis of the quality and completeness of these data is proceeding. The data files for 1991–92 are not yet available.
