§ Mr. SackvilleInformation on abortions by district health authority (DHA) of operation is not released for reasons of confidentiality. Statistics showing the number of abortions performed under national health service agency agreements (that is, abortions to NHS patients performed in non-NHS premises) by DHA of usual residence are given in the table.
Central receipt of the notification of dates when agency agreements come into effect, and when they are dissolved, can be subject to delay, and therefore these figures should be interpreted with caution. For this reason such statistics are not, at present, routinely released at the DHA level. However, a more timely system for reporting of agency agreements is now in place, and these figures will be published annually from 1992 onwards.
