§ Mr. FraserTo ask the Attorney-General what personnel and resources in the Crown prosecution service are now being devoted to the investigation and possible prosecution of recent war crimes.
The Solicitor-GeneralThe war crimes unit of the Crown prosecution service, which was established to advise the police on war crimes committed between 1939 and 1945, is made up of seven lawyers together with appropriate administrative staff. The unit also provides advice to the Metropolitan police in connection with their inquiry concerning the Falkland Islands. The latter is the most recent allegation of war crimes on which the unit is currently giving advice.
