HC Deb 10 March 1993 vol 220 c616W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what reports she has received concerning the operation of children's homes in Islington; what proposals are being made for future changes; and what aspects she has asked the social services inspectorate to examine.

Mr. Yeo

An interim report by the independent inquiry into allegations of mismanagement in Islington's children's homes has been received by the Department. The inquiry team is being strengthened by the addition of a former director of social services. The inquiry will complete its investigation into the management and practice of the children's homes, the management of child care cases by the Islington neighbourhood services department and a range of associated personnel matters. The social services inspectorate will also conduct a full inspection of the children's homes service shortly.
