HC Deb 09 March 1993 vol 220 c508W
Mr. Austin-Walker

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what recent representations he has received regarding the funding of Theatre-in-Education; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

I have received three letters on this subject, one of which involved Greenwich Young People's Theatre in the hon. Member's constituency. I understand that, in 1993–94, the London arts board will be spending more money on Theatre for Young People, which includes Theatre-in-Education, than the £236,000 it spent this year.

Mr. Austin-Walker

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what plans he has to view the Theatre-in-Education work of the Greenwich young people's theatre.

Mr. Brooke

I am considering the recent invitation I have received from the chairman of the Greenwich Young People's Theatre to see its work.
