HC Deb 09 March 1993 vol 220 c512W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary .of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the chairmen of the Welsh health authorities in relation to the completion of the waiting times initiative contract funding; what provision he has made for carrying over unspent funding for uncompleted contracts; what information he has received on completion of all contracts by the end of the financial year; what assessment he has made of compensatory reduction or postponement in other treatments to complete waiting times initiative performance targets; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

The implementation of waiting times initiatives is dealt with at official level between the Welsh Office and purchasers of health care.

All waiting times initiative funding for 1992–93 has been allocated to the relevant health authorities and GP fund holders.

Purchasers are aware of the need to complete initiative work by the end of the financial year. A full evaluation of this year's initiative will be undertaken at the end of the financial year.

There is no reason to believe there has been any reduction, or postponement, of treatment as a result of the waiting times initiative.
