To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage when regulations will be laid to bring into effect the television licence fee increases announced in December 1992 for 1 April.

Mr. Brooke

I announced on 9 December 1992,Official Report, column 683, that from 1 April 1993 the fee for a colour television licence would increase to £83 and the fee for a monochrome licence would rise to £27.50. On 5 March, I laid before the House the regulations necessary to bring these fees into force.
