To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will place in the Library copies of all circulars and other advice issued by her Department concerning the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981 and the acquired rights directive.

My right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General has advised the Standing Committee considering the Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Bill, House of Commons,Official Report, Standing Committee F, 21 January 1993, beginning at column 504, on aspects of the Transfer of Undertakings Regulations 1981 and the EC acquired rights directive. My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster is considering what further guidance might be helpful.
