§ Mr. BrookeDuring the current year, there were nine project grants awarded to children's theatre companies, as follows:
£ Lambeth Children's Theatre 28,000 Neti Neti 28,000 Open Hand 22,220 Dodgy Clutch 18,070 Action Transport 16,650 The Glee Club 15,600 MYPT 15,000 Token Gestures 11,700 Working Parts 6,000 There were additionally seven project grants to young people's theatre and theatre in education groups. The Scottish and Welsh Arts Councils and the regional arts boards also made project grants to a large number of children's and young people's theatre groups.
§ Ms WalleyTo ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will discuss with the regional arts boards the establishment of specific awards to children's theatre within their areas; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BrookeThe Arts Council and the former regional arts associations issued a joint policy statement on theatre for children and young people, following the 1985 Warwick conference. That policy still applies and continues to be widely endorsed.
