To ask the President of the Board of Trade how much coal designated for power generation was imported into the United Kingdom in 1992; and how much was imported from each exporter.

The amount of coal imported into the United Kingdom and designated for power generation1 during 1992 was 7,568,000 tonnes. The breakdown by exporting countries is:
