asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps they are taking to ensure the observance of the code of conduct, adopted by the licensed trade and agreed by the Government, for the sale of wine by the glass, whereby the measure and price of a glass of wine shall be exhibited at the point of sale, and what is the current level of acceptance of the code.

Because compliance with the licensed trade's code has been disappointing, the Government have legislated on the sale of wine by the glass to come into effect in January 1995.
