HL Deb 02 March 1993 vol 543 c33WA
Lord Tebbit

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the provisions of the Treaty of Rome as amended by the Single European Act and the Treaty of Maastricht would make it unlawful for Her Majesty's Government or their agents to undertake actions to frustrate its provisions.

Baroness Trumpington

The United Kingdom would not have ratified the Treaty of Rome, and would not ratify any treaty amending it, if it intended to frustrate its provisions.
