HC Deb 01 March 1993 vol 220 c52W
20. Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what new proposals he has to raise average Welsh wage levels.

Mr. David Hunt

Wages are a matter for agreement between employees and employers in the light of their particular circumstances.

Since May 1990 wage levels have risen faster in Wales than in Great Britain as a whole—16.7 per cent. in Wales, 15.8 per cent. in Great Britain—and real earnings have increased for all income groups in Wales since 1979.
