§ Mr. HendryTo ask the Secretary of State for Health whether regional and national organisations can apply for core grants under section 64 funding; and if she will make a statement.
§ Mr. SackvilleYes. A core grant may be awarded under the section 64 general scheme to assist with the central administrative costs of a national, or regional, voluntary organisation. Such a grant will not normally be awarded for more than a maximum of five years under revised arrangements for funding from April 1993, detailed in my letter of August 1992 to voluntary organisations.
Applications are usually invited in the autumn for consideration for possible funding in the following financial year. A copy of the notes of guidance for 1993–94 setting out the detailed requirements, has been placed in the Library.
