We fully support the measures taken by the United Kingdom equine industry, including the application of voluntary movement restrictions to affected premises.
The VPC considered the application for an inactivated EVA vaccine at its meeting yesterday. It advised that subject to the satisfactory resolution of outstanding quality points, an animal test certificate could be granted, allowing use of the product under veterinary supervision and subject to the normal conditions associated with such certificates. Officials at the Veterinary Medicines Directorate are discussing these points urgently with the company concerned, together with arrangements for making the product available as speedily as possible.
