§ Mr. Robin SquireThe Department provides support under the grants for education support and training programme for local authority expenditure on training for teachers about national curriculum assessment. In the financial year 1993–94, grant at the rate of 60 per cent. supports £17 million of expenditure for the in-service training of teachers. Over the last three years £50.6 million 123W has been supported for this purpose. Information on the precise proportion of this expenditure which relates to the testing of 14-year-olds is not available.
