To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he supports the proposal for European Community assistance for inner London.

Negotiations on the Commission's proposed amendments to the current regulations of the European structural funds, including the eligibility criteria and method of selection of objective 2 areas, are unlikely to be agreed before the end of July. Only when revised regulations have been agreed by the Council of Ministers can consideration be given to the designation of particular areas for assistance in the subsequent period.
