§ Mr. PortilloOf the main public service schemes, only the armed forces pension scheme is non-contributory. The civil service and judicial pension schemes are noncontributory for members' benefits, but members pay contributions for survivors' benefits. The estimated cost to the Exchequer of providing pensions from these schemes in 1992–93 is as follows:

These arrangements are kept under review.
