To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether rateable values have been harmonised to bring Scotland into line with England and Wales; and if he will provide details.

I shall write to the hon. Member and arrange for a copy of the letter to be placed in the Library of the House.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will list those types of hereditaments where assessment of rateable values has not been harmonised to bring Scotland into line with rateable values in England;

(2) what powers he has to give direction to assessors in Scotland as to the assessment of the hereditaments for rating purposes; and what exercise has been made of such powers.
