HC Deb 27 July 1993 vol 229 cc851-2W
Mr. Wilson

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) pursuant to his answer of 19 July,Official Report, column 38, why the robbery which occurred at Toome street post office, Belfast, on 17 June was not included in his answer;

(2) if he will make a statement on a robbery which occurred at Toome street post office, Belfast, on 17 June; and if he will state the value of cash and other items stolen.

Sir John Wheeler

[holding answer 23 July 1993]: There is no post office at Toome street, Belfast. The hon. Member may have in mind the Royal Mail's main postal sorting office. This is located at Royal Mail house, Donegall quay, Belfast, but is known locally as Tomb street, where it has a service entrance. I understand that there was an incident involving the unauthorised removal of a number of registered packages from these premises on 17 June, but it is inappropriate for me to comment further as the matter is sub-judice.
