To ask the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made in meeting his target to ensure the first phase of work on options for the future of the AEA is completed by late autumn.

The consultancy study I announced on 1 April,Official Report, column 407, is progressing to schedule. An announcement will be made in due course, once I have had an opportunity to consider the consultants' report and the AEA's own views.
