§ Mr. Ieuan Wyn JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will provide additional funds to assist village halls in Wales to implement the requirements of(a) the Children Act 1989 and (b) EC directives on hygiene.
§ Sir Wyn RobertsFinancial support to village halls is available under a number of schemes, including the strategic development scheme, the capital grants to voluntary youth services, village halls and community centres programme, and the social grants scheme operated by the Development Board for Rural Wales. Expenditure incurred for the purposes of compliance with the Children Act and EC directives on food hygiene is eligible for consideration under these schemes; and is funded from within existing provision.
Decisions on resources available under these schemes for 1994–95 have not yet been taken.
