§ Mr. RedwoodManufacturing industry has been a most significant factor in Wales' success in recent years—output has risen by 30.2 per cent. since 1985 compared to a United Kingdom rise of 13.5 per cent. and, in the first quarter of this year, by 2.7 per cent. compared to the United Kingdom's 2.1 per cent. We must continue to build on this by improving manufacturing industry's productivity and the quality of its goods.
