§ Ms HarmanTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give figures for the number of people who have received tax relief for private medical insurance in the years 1989–90, 1990–91, 1991–92 and 1992–93.
§ Mr. DorrellTax relief for private medical insurance for those aged 60 or over was introduced in 1990–91. Nearly 350,000 contracts covering about 500,000 individuals aged 60 or over have received tax relief each year since then.
