Mr. O'NeillTo ask the President of the Board of Trade what representations his Department have made to the EC Commission in support of British Coal's anti-dumping claim against Colombian coal imported into the United Kingdom through the EC.
§ Mr. EggarThe responsibility for deciding whether an anti-dumping complaint should be formally investigated lies with the Commission. The Government have made it clear to the Commission that we look to it to take seriously its responsibilities in this area and therefore to consider British Coal's complaint carefully. We have also made clear that we have no objection to its opening an investigation.
