§ Mr. VazTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many representations he has received(a) in favour of and (b) against the decision, announced on 13 November 1992, to reduce the urban programme for 1993–94.
§ Mr. Robin SquireThe 97 letters received up to and including 4 January 1993, to which I referred in my answer to the hon. Member of 11 January, at column655, either sought clarification or expressed concern about the new arrangements for the urban programme. In reply, we have made clear that there will be a substantial urban programme in 1993–94 amounting to £176 million and that we have demonstrated our continuing commitment to urban regeneration by increasing planned resources for my Department's urban group of programmes for 1993–94 by over £90 million; total spending will be over £1 billion.
