HC Deb 21 January 1993 vol 217 cc379-80W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (I) what representations he has received from the London borough of Enfield following publication of the Building Research Establishment's report into unsafe tower blocks in Enfield;

(2) what conclusions he has drawn from the report from the Building Research Establishment into the safety standards of tower blocks in Enfield; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

[holding answer 19 January 1993]: The London borough of Enfield has discussed the Building Research Establishment's initial assessment of consultants' reports with my Department. BRE's current work for the borough follows our long-standing recommendations on the appraisal of high-rise blocks. Any eventual findings will be taken into account when considering the borough's housing investment programme.
