To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the future of the Agricultural Training Board.

Mr. Curry

The recent industry consultation on the future status and operation of the Agricultural Training Board produced no firm consensus in favour of either the new proposals or for retaining the status quo. Agriculture Ministers are considering, in consultation with the board, the best way to proceed taking into account the needs of the industry and the funding available. My right hon. Friend expects to make a statement during February.
