§ Mr. McNamaraTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many of the soldiers involved in the incident leading to the death of Seamus McElwaine are still serving in the Army; whether any of these soldiers are still serving in Northern Ireland or have served there since the incident; and what disciplinary procedures the Army intends to initiate following the verdict of the jury.
§ Mr. Archie HamiltonIt is not our practice to comment on the deployment of individual soldiers. The Director of Public Prosecution for Northern Ireland has asked for a full report from the police in the light of the inquest jury's finding. It would therefore be inappropriate for me to comment further.
