To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what are the latest available figures for the proportion of lone parents who receive maintenance.

Mr. Burt

The latest available estimates show that only 29 per cent. of lone parents receive regular maintenance payments. The corresponding figure for lone parents receiving income support is 22 per cent.
