§ Mr. Needham[holding answer 25 February 1993]: My right hon. Friend has not received any specific representations about the impact of the European single market on the retail tobacco trade. The Government are well aware of the concerns of the trade, and the United Kingdom producers, about the possible implications of the single market and are keeping a close watch for any abuses. However, it is too early to be sure what impact there may have been on the retail trade.
