HC Deb 26 February 1993 vol 219 cc761-2W
Mr. Winnick

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will state the time scale for the elimination of all weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; and what steps are being taken to ensure that the location of such weapons becomes known to the United Nations inspectors.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The United Nations Special Commission on Iraq and the International Atomic Energy Agency are charged with the elimination of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. They will continue to conduct inspections until they are satisfied that all prohibited weapons, components and facilities have been destroyed, removed or rendered harmless.

The international community continues to press Iraq to comply with its obligation to make full declarations of all WMD-related items. Individual Governments provide further information as to the possible location of such items.
