To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the number of deaths in the last five years from sniffing toxic substances; and what was the age range of those who died.

The most recent figures available for deaths from solvent and volatile substance abuse are those for 1990. Publication of figures for 1991 is expected in March this year. The information is as follows:
