HC Deb 17 February 1993 vol 219 cc269-70W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimates he has made of that part of Lambeth's current notional expenditure which consists of(a) interest charges and (b) debt write-off.

Mr. Robin Squire

The relevant notional amount specified for Lambeth in "The Limitation of Council Tax and Precepts (Relevant Notional Amounts) Report (England) 1993–94" reflects the authority's own estimate of the amounts of interest charges and debt write-off which it made when setting its 1992–93 budget and community charges.

Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how much Lambeth council is currently permitted to borrow excluding capital projects.

Mr. Robin Squire

The limit on an authority's borrowing is its aggregate credit limit (ACL), or any lower limit the authority itself may have set. The ACL is determined by a formula. As the ACL can fluctuate from day to day, the ACL which is current at any time would have to be ascertained from the council.
