§ Mr. DorrellUnited Kingdom car manufacturers have generally welcomed the proposal to move to a price-based system for taxing company cars. Some recent representations have noted the effects of future uncertainty on sales and sought decisions on the details and timing of the change at the earliest possible date. These effects are by their nature not directly measurable. We appreciate however the importance to the industry and others of certain and stable arrangements for company cars.
