HC Deb 09 February 1993 vol 218 c561W
Mr. Bell

To ask the President of the Board of Trade how much of the extra £700 million made available for the Export Credits Guarantee Department in 1992 has been allocated.

Mr. Needham

The additional £700 million announced in the autumn statement increased ECGD's capacity to give new commitments of cover. Of the £200 million allocated to the current financial year, nearly half has been used and ECGD anticipate that it will be fully utilised. As the cover relates to the provision of new commitments all of the £500 million allocated to 1993–94 remains available.

Mr. Colvin

To ask the President of the Board of Trade when his Department's review of Export Credits Guarantee Department cover for Lithuania will be complete; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Needham

ECGD keeps its position on Lithuania under constant review. However, it is not yet considered appropriate to introduce medium-term export credit cover.
