To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many producers are entitled to hill livestock compensatory allowances in the Highlands region; and how many of those are located in severely disadvantaged areas.

[holding answer 4 February, 1993]: In Highland region 3,989 producers were paid hill livestock compensatory allowances under the 1992 scheme. Of these 3,955 were located in severely disadvantaged areas.
