To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on progress towards the completion of the bridge to Skye.

Because of the very stormy weather conditions recently experienced, the planned floating-out and sinking operation for the bridge caissons has been delayed. The contractor intends to mobilise his resources quickly for this critical operation as soon as an appropriate weather window becomes available. It is not expected that the target of completion by mid—1995 will be affected.
