Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much each district local authority received in per capita contribution of aggregate external finance in each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 28 January 1993]: The information is provided in the table for each year since aggregate external finance was introduced. The per capita figures have been calculated using the Registrar General for Scotland's mid-year estimates of total population.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish a table showing for each local authority in Scotland the proportion of local authority finance(a) including and (b) excluding housing, derived from (i) central Government, (ii) business rates, (iii) rents, fees and charges and (iv) poll tax in the financial year 1992–93.

Table 1 shows proportions of local authority income in 1992–93, excluding housing and table 2 shows the proportions including housing. The proportions shown in respect of community charges are inclusive of community charge benefit receipts from central Government. Figures on income from rents, fees and charges on services other than housing are not available centrally.
