HC Deb 17 December 1993 vol 234 cc1036-7W
Mr. Straw

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what requirements are imposed on training and enterprise councils to hold meetings in public of the main governing body, any committees and any sub-committees; and what rights of access the public have to agendas, minutes, and reports of such bodies, committees and sub-committees.

Miss Widdecombe

Training and enterprise councils are accountable to their local communities in a number of ways. Their contract requires that they hold a public meeting at least annually, make publicly available their corporate plan and publish an annual report and audited statement of accounts.

However, TECs are private companies and access to their meetings and to matters relating to these meetings is entirely for them to decide.
