HC Deb 17 December 1993 vol 234 c1004W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what ratio of trained psychiatric nurses to population is the agreed formula for the provision of suitable levels of care outside hospitals;

(2) what provision she intends to make for psychiatric nursing care in the community.

Mr. Bowis

There is no formula. Service providers, in discussion with purchasers, must determine the numbers and grades of staff that are deployed in the community.

Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many psychiatric nurses were employed in Crewe district health authority in(a) 1980, (b) 1990 and (c) 1993; and what were the numbers of redundancies among such staff in each of these years.
