To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what inquiries have been made by his Department in connection with the statement of 11 November by Mr. Richard Turner of the western European department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, that non-voluntary active termination of life is a practice which occurs in the United Kingdom, although it is illegal; and if he will make a statement;

(2) how many cases of non-voluntary active termination of life by medical personnel have been notified to his Department in each of the last five years for which figures are available; in how many of those cases prosecutions were brought; and in how many convictions were obtained.
