HL Deb 16 December 1993 vol 550 cc125-6WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What financial contribution they are making to the prosecution of war criminals and persons suspected of genocide in the former Yugoslavia.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

The War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia will be funded by the UN. The Fifth Committee of the General Assembly has approved $500,000 for its establishment costs. The estimate for the running costs for the first year is approximately $31 million. The UK will expect to pay its normal Regular Budget share of this expenditure, which is 5.02 per cent.
